Hamwalk Primary School is located in Hamwalk, St. Catherine, Jamaica. It is a rural community that educates approximately 45 children age 3-12 years old. Parents generally don't have a job due to the fact that there are no factories or industries nearby. Their hope is that their children go to high school, graduate, and get a job or further their studies.

However, the children who attend Hamwalk Primary School are smart but have a tremendous disadvantage. In order to go to high school, these students have to pass a rigorous entrance exam.  The ones who succeed on the entrance exam face many difficulties making a successful transition to graduation.  Lack of money for tuition, transportation, uniforms, books, and lunch are just some of the problems they face.

We would truly appreciate your support...

The Barbara Wade Scholarship Fund would help students who pass the entrance exam to pay their portion of tuition, purchase books for school, buy uniforms, pay for transportation, and lunch daily for the full 4 years that they are in high school.  This kind of help does not just help the students but uplifts the entire community.
Barbara Wade Remekie was very smart and the first to attend college in her family. When she became a teacher she helped her mother, brothers, and sisters who were all still living in the community. Eventually, she helped them to go to school and obtain jobs so they could support their families. In her memory, we seek to help the children and thereby the entire community.  We appreciate your support and encourage monthly support if you are able.
